For a number of weeks, as part of our Shared Education initiative with Fivemiletown, some year 10 drama pupils from St Ciaran’s and Fivemiletown Collegehave worked together in various drama activities, group brainstorms and short scripting tasks. During these sessions the pupils had the opportunity to discuss what was important to them – their religion, yes, but also things like social media and mental health. Through this, the pupils developed and devised 3 short performances based on these important issues, using drama as an outlet and a medium for communicating what it means to be a teenager today.
The performances were showcased to year 8 pupils in both schools and received a great reception. Very thought provoking scripts and so relevant to issues teenagers face today. A big thank you the pupils involved for all their hard work and commitment and a particular word of thanks to the drama teachers Mrs McDaid and Mrs Morrow for their time and commitment to the project.
