Connor Marron Cup Congratulations to our Year 8 boys on winning the Connor Marron Cup yesterday in Ballymena! Year 10 Merit Trip
Our Year 10 students went on their end-of-year merit trip to Emerald Park, where they were lucky enough to experience some good weather for a change and all had a blast braving the rollercoasters, pitching to win stuffed animals and making core memories with their friends!


Blast Off Programme
Our Year 9 pupils had a fantastic experience taking part in the Young Enterprise Blast Off programme! They explored the world of local entrepreneurs and showed great creativity in developing their own product ideas. A brilliant effort from everyone involved—well done!


CPR Training
Congratulations to our year 10 pupils on the successful completion of their CPR training. A sincere thanks to Mrs T. Gallagher for delivering this valuable and potentially life-saving training. Ulster Final – Martin O’Farrell Cup
Our Year 8 boys competed against St Patrick's, Maghera, in the final today. Although the result did not go our way, the team gave an outstanding performance, battling hard until the final whistle. The match finished with a scoreline of 2-10 to 1-06. We are incredibly proud of the boys for reaching the final and for the determination, teamwork, and resilience they showed throughout the competition. Primary 7 Taster Days
We welcomed the P7 students who will be joining us at St Ciaran’s College, as Year 8 students this September! They enjoyed a fantastic visit, receiving a very warm welcome from staff and students alike. Highlights across both days included break/ lunch in the canteen and taking part in a wide range of engaging activities across PE, Home Economics, Technology & Design, French, Drama, Science and Art. European Music Festival
Our Year 10 student, Maeve McCartin travelled to Italy to play the Uilleann Pipes in a prestigious music festival. Maeve was invited by Armagh Pipers Club which she is a member of, and her schedule will include performances with groups from Poland, Germany and Italy. She is one of only 6 Irish students selected to perform, which speaks volumes! Canavan Cup
What a day of Gaelic football at the Canavan Cup today! Over 280 primary school pupils from across all our partner primary schools came together for a feast of football in howling winds, torrential rain, and even the odd burst of sunshine. Year 14 Leavers
Along with their parents/carers and relatives, we celebrated their Leavers Mass of Thanksgiving which was a lovely, memorable occasion. Sporting News
U20 Tyrone Football Commiserations to Shea McDermott and our Head Boy, Darren McAnespie, who were part of the Tyrone U20 team that narrowly lost to Kerry following a fiercely contested battle in the All-Ireland U20 Football Championship Final at Croke Park. We were immensely proud to see Shea, who made a significant contribution by scoring 1-2 in the final, secure back-to-back Tyrone U20 Ulster Championship titles. Year 12 - Mass of Thanksgiving
Recently we held a Mass of thanksgiving for our Year 12 students. This was a good opportunity to reflect on their time at St Ciaran's so far and give thanks to everyone who helped them along the way. Thanks to all the students we were involved in the celebration and to Fr O'Dwyer for leading the Mass.


GCSE Derry Trip
Our GCSE History and Art students have been deepening their understanding of the Troubles, with a particular focus on Bloody Sunday and the powerful murals that depict this pivotal moment. We are incredibly grateful to the guides at Free Derry Tours and the Museum of Free Derry for sharing their personal and moving experiences, bringing this important history to life for our students.


Ulster Museum Art Trip
St Ciaran’s College Year 11 and 12 Art & Design students enjoyed a fantastic day at the Ulster Museum. They explored the inspiring Ashes to Fashion collection alongside the museum’s wider exhibits. Throughout the visit, students took part in drawing from life, sketching a variety of pieces to develop their portfolios and strengthen their observational skills. We were delighted to welcome back Wee Critters to visit our Year 8 pupils. Allan delivered a very informative and enjoyable show on tropical rainforests.


Sports News
Handball Well done to our 2nd year boys handball team who narrowly lost out in the Ulster One Wall Final. During the Group stage, the boys had great wins over St Malachys Belfast and a narrow win over St Pats Cavan. This qualified the boys into the Semi Final where they played Dean Maguirc Carrickmore. The boys were very strong and won both games well this led to a final showdown with St Pats Cavan in the final. The boys battled hard, but St Pats played well and finished both


Irish News Project
Well done to 8MC who received certificates this week for completing a 6 week Irish News project. Students enjoyed spending time researching what makes a story newsworthy, looking at current and local affairs and delving into deeper topics like body image, social media influence etc. All students enjoyed receiving their weekly Irish News paper and were grateful to be given the opportunity to widen their development of literacy even further through the form of media.


Stained Glass Window Project
As part of the upcoming celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of St Ciaran’s College, pupils from the Art & Design Department have participated in a special commemorative design project. The aim of this initiative was to engage pupils in the creative process of designing a 3-foot stained-glass window that will become a permanent feature within the school. Magilligan Fieldwork
Year 11 Geography students attended Magilligan Field Centre to carry out their fieldwork investigation along the Curly Burn River. A great day was had by all as the pupils were excellent in their participation and efforts, well done!
