Year 13 English Literature students recently had the opportunity to visit the Seamus Heaney HomePlace to help enhance their understanding of the poetry of Heaney as well as Robert Frost, both of whom they study for their AS module.
They explored an interactive exhibition, listening to recordings of Heaney’s recitations of his own poetry and studied sources of inspiration for his poems.
Students also attended a lecture on a selection of poems by University of Ulster lecturer Dr. Frank Ferguson, followed by a seminar with a PHD student.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to engage with Heaney/Frost poetry on a deeper level and this stimulating visit should prove very useful for their upcoming exam!
“I rhyme To see myself, to set the darkness echoing.” Heaney
