On Friday 3rd February 2023, St Ciaran’s celebrated our first School Mass in Armagh Cathedral. On this very special day, our entire school community travelled to the stunning cathedral to mark what our Principal, Mr Lavery, suitably deemed a “historical occasion”. To help us make history, we were delighted to be joined by some teachers and pupil representatives from our local primary schools, as well as former members of staff, and parents of our current students.
The mass was conducted by our attentive celebrants: Bishop Michael Router, Fr Cathal Deveney and Fr Peter McAnenly.
As usual, our school choir sang a range of amazing hymns and musicians played fantastic instrumentals, while our RE Department selected the most fitting liturgy, beautifully read by our pupils and staff alike. In a true school community effort, we had staff and pupils offer gifts to the altar, and in some instances marking some of our many St Ciaran’s family connections.
We here at St Ciaran’s would like to give special thanks to our celebrants, the members of Armagh Parish who ensured the smooth running of the day, the choir and musicians, everyone who took part in the mass, our guests, our dedicated bus drivers and last but not least, all of our students, who must be commended for their attention and reverence during this most memorable day.
