From the Heart: A Gift of Health and Hope!

The first day of a two-day Early Heart Screening Programme took place on Saturday 11th October ’25 in St. Ciaran’s College, Ballygawley.

Twenty-two students availed of the opportunity to be screened by Dr Dermott Austin, Clinical Director of Loughview Health. The initiative is being funded by Mr Niall Dummigan, a friend of St Ciaran’s College through football trips to Celtic Park. Niall’s brother died suddenly of SADS (sudden adult death syndrome) when he was just 18, so he has first hand knowledge of the impact and devastation this can be to a family.

The second day of screening will be scheduled in the new year. St Ciaran’s is grateful for Dr Austin’s time and expertise which was given freely and also the sponsorship of Mr Niall Dummigan. All monies collected will go towards the purchase of a defibrillator.
