The staff and pupils of St Ciarán’s College Ballygawley have been busy during Seachtain na Gaeilge encouraging all to use their “cúpla focal”.
The festivities began with an Irish language mass celebrated by Fr Mc Guckin.
Mark Harte presented silver Fáinní to our Year 12 Irish pupils and gold Fáinní to our Year 14 students. The fáinní which have the engraving “Ár dTeanga, do rogha” were kindly sponsored by an Chomhairle Cheantair Lár Uladh, the Mid Ulster Council.
The events for Seachtain na Gaeilge continued with acéilí for years 9 and 10 during which they practiced some traditional céilí dances. The pupils who made the best effort “ag damhsa” were presented with prizes.
St Ciarán’s pupils were also treated to a display from several local fantastic Irish dancers from Scoil Rince Ní Bhrogáin Irish Dancing School, Meehan School of Irish Dancing and Treanor School of Irish Dancing.
