U20 Tyrone Football

Commiserations to Shea McDermott and our Head Boy, Darren McAnespie, who were part of the Tyrone U20 team that narrowly lost to Kerry following a fiercely contested battle in the All-Ireland U20 Football Championship Final at Croke Park.

We were immensely proud to see Shea, who made a significant contribution by scoring 1-2 in the final, secure back-to-back Tyrone U20 Ulster Championship titles. Congratulations also to Darren on winning his first Ulster U20 title. Both players have been outstanding ambassadors for the school, and we congratulate them on their achievements throughout a memorable and successful season for Tyrone.

A great picture of Shea with Siobhan McKernan, Learning Resource Area supervisor, taken after the ulster final.

Tyrone Minor Ulster Champions

Congratulations to Conan Canavan, Conall Shevlin, Marcus McLaughlin and the Tyrone Minor team on their fantastic victory over Derry in the Electric Ireland Ulster Minor Football Championship Final at Letterkenny.

In a hard-fought and highly competitive contest, Tyrone produced an excellent team performance to claim the Ulster title. We are especially proud of Conan, Conall and Marcus for their contribution throughout the championship campaign and on final day as they helped Tyrone secure provincial honours.

Representing both their county and school with distinction, the boys have shown tremendous commitment, skill and determination throughout the season. Everyone at St Ciaran’s congratulates them on this outstanding achievement and wishes them every success in the All-Ireland series.

Tae Kwon Do

Congratulations Max, who was recently a member of the TAGB Northern Ireland Squad and attended the Tae Kwon Do International event of the European Championships 2026 which were held in Switzerland. He was awarded a bronze medal at this competition!

He recently received his black belt in the sport too. Well done Max!

Year 8 Girls Football

Huge congratulations to our Year 8 girls winning the Ulster Schools cup! The girls had a brilliant day at the Ulster Schools blitz, we had three teams participating and each girl played their part and had the opportunity to represent SCC!

The girls had a convincing 2-5 to 0-2 win over Loreto Omagh in the Cup Semi Final and a hard fought 1-7 to 1-3 win after extra time to overcome St Patrick's Academy Dungannon in the final! A brilliant day of football had by all! Well done girls

Athletics

Year 11 students Annaleigh McKenna and Clodagh McConnon were medal winners at the E-Districts in Finn Valley Stranorlar.

Clodagh finished 3rd in the 3000m and Annaleigh came 2nd in the 1500m.

Our junior pupils also had a fantastic day at the Antrim Forum.

Our young athletes showed incredible determination, energy, and team spirit across all events. From sprint finishes, shot putt, high jump to endurance races, every pupil gave their absolute best and represented the school with pride.

There were standout performances throughout the day, with several personal bests achieved and medals brought home — Alice Rafferty who achieved gold in the 800m, James Hughes who achieved silver in the 800m & Year 8 girls relay team who achieved a silver.

Beyond the results, it was great to see such encouragement, and camaraderie among the pupils. Days like these are what school sport is all about!

Well done to all involved. A brilliant effort from everyone!

Congratulations to Alice Rafferty who went on to achieve a bronze medal in the Mini Girls 800m in the Ulster Schools Championships on Saturday. A wonderful achievement for a very exciting young talent!
