Prior to the Halloween break four students from year 11 and 12 took part in a school heat for the Springboard FutureChef competition (Tomas McDermott, Aoise Taggert, Sophie Connolly and Sophie McCann).
All students produced four well presented and tasty dishes. Kristen Nugent (last years winner) judged the dishes and selected Aoise Taggert and Sophie Connolly to progressed to the local heat which took place in SWC Dungannon.
Aoise and Sophie, along with other local schools, had just one hour to create their dishes and show off their culinary skills in the first heat at South West College, Dungannon campus professional kitchens.Â
A judging panel, made up of industry experts such as John Whyte from Armagh City Hotel, Aaron Duffy from Castle Leslie, and Head Judge Geoff Baird from Henderson Food Service, declared Aoise the winner with her dish of Marry Me Chicken and creamy mash.Â
