As part of the upcoming celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of St Ciaran’s College, pupils from the Art & Design Department have participated in a special commemorative design project. The aim of this initiative was to engage pupils in the creative process of designing a 3-foot stained-glass window that will become a permanent feature within the school.
The standard of the work produced by the students was outstanding and there were over 50 entries to the project.
After consultation with staff who voted on their favourites, the top three are as follows:
1st Place: Nicole Reid 12MK; 2nd Place: Liam Askin 9RP; 3rd Place: Chloe Owens 10LD

Throughout the project, pupils explored the artistic and symbolic traditions associated with stained-glass design. They studied examples from both historical and contemporary practice and examined the role of colour, line, pattern, and symbolism. In doing so, they considered how visual elements can communicate identity, heritage, and values.
These artworks demonstrate the pupils' ability to combine creativity with purposeful design, while thoughtfully reflecting the motto "Fortis in Fide" and or the mission "Including Everyone, Inspiring All to Succeed."

All entries are displayed here in the school foyer. A final design will be selected and shared with a professional stained-glass studio, who will use the chosen artwork as the basis for a bespoke stained-glass panel to be installed within the school. This installation will serve as a lasting legacy, celebrating six decades of education, faith, community, and achievement at St Ciaran’s College.

The Art Department extends its thanks to all participating pupils for their hard work, artistic effort, and contribution to this significant anniversary project.
