Sólás Room

The word Sólás means relief, comfort tranquility, at peace and mindfulness. The Sólás room was opened by Mr P Lavery, Principal, in October 2016.

Our Nurture provision offers a short-term focused, early intervention strategy, which addresses barriers to learning and social integration arising primarily from social, emotional or behavioural difficulties, in an inclusive and supportive manner.

We aim to:
-
provide a small-scale setting in which children experience nurturing support from staff who actively work towards enabling their successful reintegration into the mainstream social setting of St. Ciaran’s.
-
provide support for pupils individually or as part of a group.
-
provide ‘soft nurturing’ within the social context of break and lunch time for pupils who are having difficulty integrating into the mainstream social setting of St. Ciaran’s due to friendship issues, personal circumstances, SEBD, social skills difficulties.

The room is set up like “home from home” where pupils are provided with support, can relax, take time out, regulate their emotions, have a chat and some refreshments.
