Assistants

We have an excellent team of experienced and trained assistants who are available to support your child as required.
Spelling Club
This takes place every morning in General Room 1 (Mrs McMahon’s room) between 8:45am and 9:10am.
Pupils will be required to complete a spelling club contract and attend daily.
Pupils will be expected to learn and write out their spellings each night. Parents can help by correcting them with their child.

Times Tables Club
This takes place Monday to Thursday in Mrs O’Hagan’s room between 8:45am and 9:10am.

Catch Up Maths Programme
Pupils identified by the Maths department who require additional support in Maths will be invited to take part in catch up maths programme which aims to develop their basic skills.

Reading Partnership/Peer Reading
Several trained assistants are assigned to work with pupils who have been identified as requiring additional support to raise standards in reading and improve self confidence and enjoyment in reading.

Year 10 and Year 13 pupils have received peer reading training and have worked with Year 8 & 9 pupils to help them develop their confidence and skills in basic reading.

Digital Skills Club
From Monday to Friday 8:50am – 9:10am pupils can attend the digital skills club in IT6 to complete the following programmes:

Touch typing programmes

Read / Write literacy programme

Social Club
The social club is available in the morning, at break and at lunch time to support pupils who need a secure base where they can develop social skills, friendships as well as engaging in activities which they enjoy such as, board games, ICT, reading, etc.

Lego Club
Our lego club was set up to allow pupils to engage in teamwork, social interaction, problem solving and creativity.
