Past pupil of St Ciaran's, Ben Mulligan, visited the school today and met with staff and pupils. Speaking at assemblies in the morning Ben told students of the dreams and aspirations he had as a young man to become a world champion and how he was able to achieve that dream recently when he won the WBA Lightweight world title! Ben’s win was the culmination of a remarkable four year period that had seen him recover from skin cancer to become world champion.
Having previously fought the likes of Carl Frampton Ben now looks forward to a new dream as he spoke of his plans to open a new gym locally where he hopes to share his skills in training that he has gained in some the best gyms and with some of the best trainers in the world.
Mr Lavery congratulated Ben on achieving his world title on behalf of everyone at St Ciaran's and wished him well in his future plans.
