Ulster Museum Art Trip
St Ciaran’s College Year 11 and 12 Art & Design students enjoyed a fantastic day at the Ulster Museum. They explored the inspiring Ashes to Fashion collection alongside the museum’s wider exhibits. Throughout the visit, students took part in drawing from life, sketching a variety of pieces to develop their portfolios and strengthen their observational skills. Wee Critters
We were delighted to welcome back Wee Critters to visit our Year 8 pupils. Allan delivered a very informative and enjoyable show on tropical rainforests.


Sports News
Handball Well done to our 2nd year boys handball team who narrowly lost out in the Ulster One Wall Final. During the Group stage, the boys had great wins over St Malachys Belfast and a narrow win over St Pats Cavan. This qualified the boys into the Semi Final where they played Dean Maguirc Carrickmore. The boys were very strong and won both games well this led to a final showdown with St Pats Cavan in the final. The boys battled hard, but St Pats played well and finished both


Irish News Project
Well done to 8MC who received certificates this week for completing a 6 week Irish News project. Students enjoyed spending time researching what makes a story newsworthy, looking at current and local affairs and delving into deeper topics like body image, social media influence etc. All students enjoyed receiving their weekly Irish News paper and were grateful to be given the opportunity to widen their development of literacy even further through the form of media.


Stained Glass Window Project
As part of the upcoming celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of St Ciaran’s College, pupils from the Art & Design Department have participated in a special commemorative design project. The aim of this initiative was to engage pupils in the creative process of designing a 3-foot stained-glass window that will become a permanent feature within the school. Magilligan Fieldwork
Year 11 Geography students attended Magilligan Field Centre to carry out their fieldwork investigation along the Curly Burn River. A great day was had by all as the pupils were excellent in their participation and efforts, well done!


SCC Zambia 2026

Annual Cake & Bun Sale
Our annual Cake and Bun Sale raised an amazing total of £1,500. This year, we were proud to divide the funds equally between three remarkable charities: Foyle Hospice, Horatio’s Garden, and AWARE — each carrying out vital work to support people across our wider community. New York Trip
40 Students from St Ciaran’s College along with 40 Students from Integrated College Dungannon headed to New York for a joint trip. A huge congratulations to Oisin Tierney who was recently crowned the National Junior 1 Boxing Champion, which is a superb achievement and well deserved. Congratulations to all our students who braved the tough weather conditions yesterday in Mallusk for the Ulster Schools’ Cross-Country! Water Quality Improvement Project
9RP took part in a four-week Water Quality Improvement Project, delivered by The Speedwell Trust and funded by DAERA. During the project, the pupils visited the River Torrent in Parkanaur to carry out some geography fieldwork tasks. They also assessed the water quality by checking species indicators and carried out sampling to check for the presence of pollutants.
